Fishermen2  Fisherman

As the weather in the Laurel Highlands starts to warm, the snow has melted and the streams and rivers run wild…there is only one thing that comes to mind of people living and visiting in our area…and that’s fishing!

The 2016 fishing season starts this Saturday April 16th, 2016 at 8:00am.  That is when you will see thousands of fishermen, women and children all out to catch the trophy fish of their dreams.  Whether it be trout, catfish, walleye, or large and small mouth bass, there are plenty of fish in the Laurel Highlands waters.  Just look at last year’s turnout, we had a whopping 46,654 Annual Licenses sold in the tri-county area of the Laurel Highlands.  That many people can’t be wrong with the terrific fishing in the area!

One of the great things to take advantage of during the fishing season is the “Fish for Free Days”.  These two dates are May 29th, 2016 and July 4th, 2016 (Independence Day).  The fish for free days allow anyone (resident or nonresident) to legally fish on Pennsylvania waterways on the designated days with no fishing License required.  All other fishing regulations will still apply.  Please visit the Pennsylvania Department of Natural Resources for more info:

Some of the top fishing in the Laurel Highlands area are just within a few miles of The Donegal Holiday Inn Express and Suites.  We have the Youghiogheny River, Linn Run, Indian Creek, and Laurel Hill Creek just to name a few.  So stop in and stay with us, but don’t forget to have those poles lined and bait packed for an action filled day of fishing in the Laurel Highlands.   For those of you not sure where the best places are to fish in the Laurel Highlands, give us a call at 724-593-1881 and ask for one of our vacation planning experts to help you plan an unforgettable fishing vacation.
